Placer River Trail BridgePlacer River Trail Bridge
Set in the remote Alaskan forest, the 280-foot camelback truss bridge is the longest clear span glulam timber truss bridge in North America. It connects visitors to the remote wilderness. The design by Western Wood Structures was chosen for its natural beauty, cost effectiveness and durability in the harsh climate. As it is close to Spencer Glacier, the bridge had to be constructed high enough to allow any icebergs to float safely underneath without collision.

Kelowna Office BuildingKelowna Office Building
Faction Projects developed, designed and built their new, 14,000 square-foot office building in Canada’s scenic Kelowna region, British Columbia. Cross-laminated timber was an ideal material with its slim profile, fire resistance ratings, ease of installation and beauty. The building is framed with glulam post and beam, with CLT making up the floor and roof systems.  The resulting three-storey structure is therefore respectful of its surroundings, yet modern in its angles and appearance.

Environmental Nature Center
Highlights a wood-framed, mixed-use building inspiring sustainable design. The features of the building are used as educational tools showcasing the benefits of environmentally-conscious design. The ENC hopes the building will inspire and teach visitors to implement sustainable design features in their own homes and businesses.

This massive glulam and glass structure in Oakland, California, was created by engineers usingd innovative computer modelling backed by field tests to achieve the high strength and ductility requirements for a building located less than eight miles from a major fault zone.

Environmental Center
Reaching the apex of sustainable design, the environmental center achieved LEED Platinum status through inspired use of engineered wood products.

This 430,000-square-foot senior living center in Tennessee
comprises 171 apartments, a 40,000-square-foot healthcare facility and 28 single-family residences. It uses a combination of plywood exterior walls, oriented strand board (OSB) floor decks, with floors framed with I-joists flush-mounted to laminated veneer lumber (LVL) headers to satisfy requirements that mid-height mansards be less than 35-feet in height.

Atlanta Station Project
An urban renewal project located in Atlanta, Georgia, that uses wood’s design versatility and sustainability in its construction to build an award-winning development on the site of the former Atlantic Steel Mill.  Engineered wood plays a leading role in the construction of two of Atlantic Stations’ high-density residential projects.

washington State Museum Concrete_Forming_APA_CLoWashington State History Museum
The museum’s objective was to create a world class facility while retaining the historic architecture of the former railroad station alongside. Plywood concrete forms were used to shape eleven 55-foot-high reinforced arches. These were designed to accentuate the facade as well as harmonise with the historic Union Station, and its four vaulted arches forming its central dome. (four more concrete formwork case studies).

JP Morgan Chase Building
Highlights the construction of a fast-track freestanding bank branch in New Albany, Ohio that was scheduled for completion in just 120 days. The hybrid design combines an engineered wood roof with metal framed walls to produce a shell system that is durable, sound, economical, rapid to build and capable of supporting a wide variety of client finish options.
